Paid plans

# Twice the room, 75p a month.

The free tier is not going anywhere. This is for the projects that have outgrown it.

## What you get

A paid server is exactly double a free one: 50% of a CPU core instead of 25%, 512 MB of memory instead of 256 MB, and 1 GB of disk instead of 512 MB. Everything else is identical, because everything else was never the constraint.

It is 75p per month per server. There is no limit on how many paid servers you may have, and they do not count towards your free server allowance — so taking a paid server never costs you the free one you already had.

## When it is worth paying for

Memory is almost always the reason. A library caches what the platform sends it, and on a bot in a large server that cache is the entire 256 MB budget before your own code has done anything. If your project restarts on its own, or dies when it is busiest, that is usually what is happening.

CPU matters far less often. A bot or worker that sits waiting on a connection uses almost none of it. If you are running something that actually computes — image processing, audio, a database doing real work — then the extra quarter-core is the thing you want.

If neither of those describes your project, the free tier is genuinely enough and we would rather you kept your money.

## Cancelling, and getting your money back

You can schedule a downgrade at any time. Your server keeps its full paid resources until the end of the month you have already paid for, you are not charged again, and you can change your mind at any point before that date at no cost.

You can also downgrade immediately and be refunded for the time you have not used, less a 25p fee. That fee is not a penalty: our payment provider keeps its processing charge when a payment is refunded, so a refund without it costs us more than the subscription earned. Immediate downgrades are limited to one every 30 days, and are not offered in the last twelve days before renewal, when what is left after the fee would amount to a few pence. Scheduling a downgrade is always free and always available.

When a subscription ends, your server moves back to the free plan if you have a free slot for it, keeping all of your files. If you do not have a slot free, it is suspended instead, and we will email you telling you exactly when it would be deleted and how to keep it.

## If a payment fails

Nothing dramatic happens. We keep trying your card, and your server keeps running for a day. If it is still unpaid after that, the server is paused — not deleted, and not touched in any other way. Your files stay exactly where they are, and the moment a payment succeeds it starts again on its own.

We will email you when a payment fails, when a server is paused, and again if anything is ever scheduled for deletion. You will never lose a server without having been told the date in advance.

Not sure you need it? The free tier has no time limit and no renewals, and you can upgrade any server later without rebuilding it. [Create a free account](https://sillydev.co.uk/panel/auth/register).

FAQ

## Questions

**Does a paid server use up my free server slot?**

No. Paid servers are counted separately, so you can have your free server and any number of paid ones alongside it. If a paid server later returns to the free plan, it starts counting towards your free allowance from that point.

**Can I upgrade a server I already have?**

Yes. Any server you own can be upgraded from its settings page. It is resized and restarted straight away, and the first payment is taken at that point rather than when you started the process.

**When am I actually charged?**

Only once your server is running. Your card is checked when you order, but nothing is taken until the server actually exists — so if we cannot build it, you have paid nothing and can walk away at no cost.

**How many paid servers can I have?**

As many as you like. Each one is its own 75p monthly subscription, which means each can be cancelled on its own without affecting the others.

**What happens to my files if I stop paying?**

They stay put. A failed payment pauses the server after a day; it is never deleted at that stage, and it comes back untouched when a payment goes through. Only once a subscription has ended for good, and only if you have no free slot for the server, does a deletion date exist — and we email you that date before it arrives.
